2nd Annual Legacy Duathlon - April 23, 2011

Course Update!!!

In 2010 the Legacy Duathlon was a Run, Bike, Run but the course was limited to one distance. In 2011 we have made a Long and Short Course. The Legacy Parkway in North Salt Lake, Utah is continually adding more distance to its paved trail and with that we have added a Long Course as well.

Long Course Distance 3.1Miles (5K), 22.4 Miles (36K), 3.1 Miles (5K)

Short Course Distance 1.55 Miles (2.5K), 11.2 Miles (18K), 1.55 Miles (2.5K)

The way we do a race like this is to allow the fastest 5K Runner to go first on the course where your time begins. We then put one racer on the course every 10 seconds based on their estimated 5K until everyone is on the course. What this does is keep the participants thinned out from each other and helps protect against bicycle accidents. The course is closed to cars so it flows very well. See pictures in header above of last year!!!

2nd Annual Willard Bay Triathlon - June 4, 2011

We are excited for the 2nd Annual Willard Bay Triathlon. This USAT Sanctioned event is a great early season triathlon. The swim course is an out and back parelleling the dike in Willard Bay providing an extra level of swim safety beyond the life guards. The reason it is one of the first open water swim triathlons in the Wasatch Front is because it is one of the lowest elevation triathlons in the Wasatch Front.

Sprint Distance - Swim 750 Meters, Bike 12 Miles, Run 3.1

Olympic Distance - Swim 1500 Meters, Bike 24 Miles, Run 6.2

7th Cache Valley Super Sprint Triathlon - July 9, 2011

The Cache Valley Super Sprint Triathlon is one of our July Aquatic Center Triathlons. The advantage with Aquatic Center Triathlons is the lower cost. We do not allow wetsuits on these as well so participants do not need to spend the money on renting or buying a wetsuit. They also are great ways to allow first timers who are not confident in open water swims to test out triathlons. The Cache Valley Super Sprint Triathlon is a triathlon that sells out early every year so do not wait to register if you are planning on participating. All levels of athletes love this fast course. The run goes through a park with trees and a stream near it. Sprint Course Only - Swim 500 Meters, Bike 12.5 Miles, Run 3.1 Miles.

Legacy Midnight Run - July 15, 2011

We are very excited about the 1st Annual Legacy Midnight Run. This Half, 10K or 5K is on the Legacy Parkway Starting in North Salt Lake, Utah to Farmington, Utah. On this race we will be providing glow sticks and glow body paint for runners to race with because the race starts at 10:00PM at Night. We tell everyone that their goal is to beat the midnight hour. This will be a bused out Half Marathon and is only $45 for registration if done prior to February 28, 2011. Each aid station will have lighted coolers and music where we can. It will be during a July's fullest friday moon. Already we have a lot of buzz regarding this race so do not procrastinate registering to the end. We do not know how quick we will fill in the end.

Stair Stampede 2011 - ????

Last year we introduced a Stair Run for Ogden called the Stair Stampede. The race was a 13 floor race done 8 times resulting in 104 floors (similar to the Sears Tower). Though we did not have a huge pariticipant race, 90% of those that raced last year emailed me and requested its return. Two reasons we have not put it together for 2011 is the lack of participants and the location we did it in did not want it back due to their stairs being old and ugly. We have found a new location in Ogden that we could do it. It would be a 9 Floor Race done 12 times (108 Floors). If anyone has any interest in us putting this together for 2011 please let us know. Rules are you do not run down but take the elevator as a transition time and only get timed on times between entries and exits.

The runners said that the race was only 30-50 minutes it was a serious burn out. If I get a lot of feedback to bring back the Stair Stampede in Ogden look for it on our calendars and March 2011's Newsletter.
